Political View

Member of PTI’s Negotiation Committee, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, has warned that if an impartial judicial commission is not established by January 31 to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, the peace talks will not proceed.

Speaking to the media after meeting PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Raza stated, “The ball is now in the government’s court. We have shown as much flexibility as possible.”

He added that the opposing side should come prepared for the next meeting with a clear plan to establish the judicial commission.

“We are not asking for a commission with judges of our choice, but for the most senior judges of the Supreme Court who can conduct an investigation and identify those responsible for both incidents,” he explained.

Raza further noted that PTI is ready for the third round of negotiations, but emphasized that the government must take practical steps on their two main demands: the establishment of the judicial commission and the release of detainees.

“We will provide these demands in written form. In the third meeting, concrete steps must be taken,” he said.

He also revealed that PTI’s negotiation committee head, Omar Ayub, has been fully empowered by Imran Khan to sign the charter of demands, stressing that the party’s founder will not be personally involved in executive orders.

Addressing the ongoing 190 million pound reference case, Raza remarked, “The decision in this case will not enhance the country’s reputation.

Neither Imran Khan nor any member of his family is a beneficiary in this case. After the verdict, the tone of negotiations may become more strained.
