Scottie Scheffler has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year for a record-breaking third consecutive season, becoming the first player to achieve this feat since Tiger Woods did so from 2005 to 2007.
Ranked as the world’s top golfer throughout 2024, Scheffler secured seven PGA Tour victories, including the Masters, a successful title defence at the Players Championship, an Olympic gold medal in Paris, and the FedExCup season-long championship.
Over the season, Scheffler demonstrated remarkable consistency with 16 top-10 finishes in 19 events and did not miss a single cut. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan praised his performance, describing it as a “truly historic season” and recognising the award as a testament to peer respect.
Scheffler received overwhelming support from members, garnering 91% of the votes to outpace fellow nominees Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy.
Only Woods and McIlroy have previously claimed the award three or more times. Scheffler, aged 28, also celebrated a personal milestone in 2024, welcoming his first child, a son named Bennett, with his wife Meredith.
Scottie Scheffler, born on 21 June 1996 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, emerged as one of the most consistent and dominant players on the PGA Tour in recent years.
A standout collegiate golfer at the University of Texas, Scheffler earned low amateur honours at the 2017 US Open before turning professional in 2018.
His breakthrough came in 2022 when he won four tournaments, including the Masters, which earned him his first major championship. Known for his steady composure, precise ball-striking, and adaptability, Scheffler quickly rose to the top of the world rankings, solidifying his place among the game’s elite players
